I was born and raised in a small rural town in northeastern Ohio that was full of wonderful people who valued family, friends and the community as a whole. I am the lucky son of two incredibly loving, hard-working and entrepreneurial parents who launched several successful businesses and managed numerous rental properties during my childhood. Growing up, my parents kept my siblings and me very involved in their business ventures and, by their example, instilled a strong work ethic and taught us the importance of honesty, ethics and integrity.
After graduating from Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in Botany, I moved to New York City to start my first professional (and dream!) job at The New York Botanical Garden. Within a few years, I purchased my first apartment and was bitten by the real estate “bug.” I was immediately elected as President to the building’s Board of Directors where, over the course of several years, I gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in real estate.
As the real estate market improved, I sold my apartment (with a nice profit!) and bought a classic tenement in the East Village. And, like with my first apartment, I jumped in with both feet and was elected as President to the Board of Directors. Simultaneously, I started a new fundraising operations job at Human Rights Watch, an experience that proved to be very beneficial in my future real estate endeavors.
After being in NYC almost 15 years, I met my now husband, Chapin (the other owner of Brockman Real Estate), and started the next chapter of my life. Coming up to the Berkshires on the weekends, I quickly began learning more about real estate by tagging along with him on showings. In 2011, I acquired my real estate license, joined Brockman and took over the business operations, which was remarkably similar to my career in fundraising operations. The following year, Chapin and I married, I quit my job in the city and transitioned to a consultant – allowing me to spend more time in the Berkshires and in real estate.
In 2016, Chapin and I fathered the three most beautiful babies in the world – an experience that profoundly touched me in ways I couldn’t even begin to imagine. Having a young family means community is of great importance to us. Like my parents, we value family, friends and neighbors and are extremely hard-working and entrepreneurial. In addition to being dads and running a successful real estate company, we also have a mercantile, Farm & Home, that’s part of our real estate office and compliments the business, with a focus on American made goods for the home, farm and garden. We believe our companies share a common theme – to help provide and create beautiful spaces that enrich the enjoyment of time spent with loved ones.
I believe every experience in my life has led me to a career in real estate, a beautiful life in the Berkshires and has contributed to the hard-working, responsible and thoughtful person I am today. By nature, I’m honest, loyal and love to laugh – qualities necessary when building strong positive relationships with buyers and sellers. I look forward to working with each and every one of you and helping you achieve and surpass your goals.
